Our Story

The Central New York Career Development Association (CNYCDA) is a collaborative network of career and experiential learning professionals representing nine colleges and universities across Central New York. Since our founding in the 1980s, we have been committed to fostering career readiness and professional growth for our members and the populations we serve.

Our origins date back to the 1980s, when several colleges joined forces to host a teacher recruitment event aimed at helping their students secure interviews and job opportunities. The event's success over several years inspired the formation of this nonprofit organization, which continued the tradition of hosting what became known as Teacher Recruitment Days. Over time, the organization expanded its mission to provide students and alumni with access to a wide range of career development opportunities, as well as professional development opportunities for its members. Each initiative is guided by our mission to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in all aspects of career and experiential learning.
